What should the whiskey glasses be like?

The most popular whiskey glasses are Old Fashioned glasses - otherwise known as tumblers or rock glass. These are low and wide glasses with a thick bottom that prevents the whiskey from heating up too much.
Wide glasses ensure a large contact of whiskey with air and thus a quick release of aroma. These glasses should fit well in your hand. It is best if they are made of crystal glass, which will fully allow you to admire the color of this noble drink. Whiskey glasses are very versatile, they are suitable for drinking pure whiskey, whiskey on the rocks, i.e. with ice cubes, as well as for various types of drinks, such as Manhattan, Godfather, Old Fashioned, Whiskey Sour, Whiskey with cola.

Glasses or whiskey glasses?

There are several ways to fully enjoy the taste of your favorite whiskey. We can drink it plain (without any additives), with water, with ice cubes or in drinks with cola or lime. An important role in the consumption of whiskey has the vessel from which it is served. The most popular vessel are Old Fasioned whiskey glasses, i.e. tumblers. These are massive glasses with a thick bottom, perfectly adhering to the hand. They can have different shapes - be round or square, straight or tapered upwards. They are perfect for whiskey with ice in the "on the rocks" style or with whiskey stones. If we are interested in a more professional and advanced tasting, small tulip-shaped whiskey glasses will be ideal. These glasses are narrowed towards the top, thanks to which they concentrate the aroma, allowing you to get acquainted with the bouquet of the drink, they also allow you to extract the full flavor and admire the color of this noble drink.

What is whiskey?

Whiskey is an alcoholic beverage that is made by distilling a mash of barley malt. Then it is matured in wooden barrels. Aging should take place for a minimum of three years, after which the drink is bottled. Whiskey (Gaelic: uisge beatha) meaning water of life; Irish and American spellings use the name whiskey. The country of origin of whiskey is Ireland, where the first records of the so-called aqua vitae. It was produced there by monks and used for medicinal purposes, as a means of prolonging life and alleviating disease symptoms. Currently, whiskey is widespread and very popular around the world. It is mainly produced in Scotland, Ireland, the United States, Canada and Japan. Depending on the country of origin, the production process looks different and differs from each other. Scotch whiskey is produced mainly from barley malt and aged for 3 years in oak barrels, Irish whiskey is made only from barley and triple distilled, American whiskey or bourbon is made from corn and other grains, distilled only once and aged only in fresh oak barrels. Canadian whiskey is delicate and smooth in taste, produced from various cereal grains, freely blended and aged in American oak barrels or barrels previously used for the production of bourbon, wine or cherry. Japanese whiskey, in turn, is shrouded in the legend of perfection and excellence, just like Japanese cuisine. It is mainly blended whiskey, diverse in taste and aroma.
